As the British newspaper “Daily Mail” currently writes, Davy Morgan had a fatal accident in the Supersport race, which was held on White Monday. The 52-year-old, once one of the most prominent motorsport stars, fell on the third and final lap of the race on a section of a racetrack designed to resemble a mountain scene and was mortally injured. Speedway organizers officially confirmed the accident shortly afterwards.
And with a heavy heart, Isle of Man TT Races can confirm Davy Morgan’s loss after an accident on the last lap of the first Supersport race in the 2022 TT.

Davy Morgan dies: the motorcycle legend has died in a fatal accident in the Isle of Man at the age of 52
“With a sad heart, the Isle of Man TT confirmed that Davey Morgan (52) of Saintfield in Northern Ireland at incident I had a fatal accident on the third and final lap of my first Supersport race in 2022. Our deepest condolences go to Davey partner Trudy to his family and friends.”
For more than 100 years, motorsport enthusiasts have flocked to the Isle of Man each year to cheer on motorcycle professionals. Always held on the winding roads of the British Isles, the Isle of Man TT is not the most dangerous motorcycle race for nothing, at least 260 motorcycle pilots have lost their lives racing since 1910.

However, Davy Morgan’s death wasn’t the first crash to cast a shadow over the Isle of Man motorcycle scene this year. Already on June 1, while the qualifying races of the racing scene were still underway, the first motorcycle pilot had a fatal accident. Mark Purslow, the name of the only dead 25-year-old, died during the evening playoffs.

Just three days later, on June 4, 2022, race organizers had to confirm another death: French race driver Olivier Lavorel, 35, died on Saturday when he crashed shortly after the start of the side race.
