cologne – Shame pictures downtown Cologne.
Two pro-Russian demonstrations took place in the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia on Sunday.
Exactly 77 years ago, on May 8, 1945, Hitler’s Germany surrendered. About 150 rockers in a procession traveled from the Kalker Friedhof through the city to Westfriedhof. There in the memorial commemorated the victims of World War II.
Among them: “night wolves”. They are seen as Putin’s motorcycle gang – and they have close ties to the Kremlin.
At the same time, about 1,000 participants gathered at the Fühlinger See in a motorcade under the slogan “Memories of War Victims”.
At the entrance to the parking lot, organizers sold Russian flags and “St. George’s Ribbons,” a Russian military insignia now used to express sympathy for Putin’s forces. Police had previously banned the use of the letter symbols V and Z – both seen as a sign of approval for the Ukraine war.
The organizer of the procession is Elena Kolbasnikova, who has lived in Germany since 1996: “There is a Nazi government in power in Ukraine,” she claimed, blaming invaded Ukraine for the bloody escalation of violence: “Since 2014, this has been leading the country against a peaceful population. In the Donbass and no one said anything about her. Yes, Zelenskyy has Jewish roots, but he is also under their control. It is controlled by the Nazis. I think the photos are from Bucha. One should not believe these photos. “
Words that sound like they came straight from the Kremlin.
Just like the opinion of Bobby (35 years old) and Tatiana (43 years old): “Putin is currently stopping the aggression that has been going on in the Donbass since 2014. Many of the pictures that are shown to us on TV screens in Germany are fake.”
Artum (40), who has lived in Germany for 20 years, agrees with the language of Russian propaganda: “All the pictures that appear to us from Bucha are fake. There are recordings showing the alleged removal of the body. What is happening in Mariupol is terrible. But the Nazi units have holed up in residential areas. The whole city was destroyed. In Germany, events in Ukraine are presented in a completely distorted way. ”
And Olga (37 years old) claimed: “What is happening in Ukraine was provoked by NATO and the United States. They wanted this war.”
Belarusians Olisega (38), Olga (40) and Julia (45) traveled from Belgium specifically to attend the demonstration: “We are demonstrating here for peace and we want to commemorate the dead of World War II. We have been doing it this way for years.”
They did not want to comment on the Ukraine war.
